So what does someone have to do to get their own reality show???
Ok. Seriously!!! What does it take to get your own reality show?? Obviously not any sort of viable or obvious talent!! There are reality shows for weight loss, dating, living with multiples, marriages, bachelors, swapping wives, little people, cake chefs, regular chefs, becoming an apprentice for Donald Trump, designing homes and clothes, dancing, singing....I mean basically ANYTHING can and will become a reality show!! So, as I sit here and read the headlines of reality show people and how much they make, I say "SIGN ME UP!!" I have also learned that there is absolutely NOTHING that people won't watch! I mean there is an actual show called "WIPE OUT" where the sole premise is to be wiped out! Boy, doesn't that sound fun!! I just wish that someone would come searching for an unemployed, non-mom who crochets, cleans and organizes because that is the show I would star in! Sadly, people would watch it!! We definately live in the "REALITY SHOW" era! I have seen what the price of making your private life public can have and I say NO THANK YOU!!! The money can't possibly be worth sacrificing all that for! Despite my own strong desire to tune into these very addicting shows, I have also grown tired of the sillyness that some of these shows have! I mean, I'm sorry! I really don't care where Kate takes her 8 kids on a Saturday! I also don't care which celebrity is going home on Dancing With The Stars! Why? Because my life is the same no matter what the outcome is!! I am guilty of finding my "guilty pleasure" in TV reality shows! They suck you in! And are they REALLY reality?? Scripted scenes where the director yells cut and you redo is hardly reality! Lets get to the REAL reality show: film the devastation that a divorce has on a child. Film the toll cheating has on a wife/husband and family. Film a soldier being reunited with his family after his 3rd tour of duty and missing the birth of one of his children.....that is reality! Paying a family millions of dollars to film their life and give them lots of perks too is NOT!!! Lets not be fooled!!!

I do not watch much reality tv, and maybe "reality" is a misnomer. Some shows are more real than others, and I like to look at these shows generally as opportunities to see some sort of reality in others lives, once in a while.
ReplyDeleteMany of us love to see the lives of others, to experience their lives to a certain extent. Thus Twitter, podcasts, and blogging, as well as youtube.
What is best though, is to live life, and share it. Like with Dina and her awesome husband, I can appreciate a bit what they are going through because I take an interest in them...their sicknesses, unemployment, garage sales, car problems, over-optomistic Blazer fanaticism, and Dina's skills with the written word.
Thank you Dina for sharing.
I agree completly Dina!!
